Abstract

A new protective hood for children was developed in cooperation with the company
MALINA-SAFETY , for the age categories 6-12 and 13-18. Tightness of the hood, as a key
parameter, was verified by measuring the penetration of sodium chloride aerosol according to
the Czech national standard ČSN EN 12941 and the penetration of sulphur hexafluoride
according to ČSN EN 136. The measurements were performed on both the children test subjects
as well as the adults. Very low values, which met the stated standards were achieved in both
cases. The obtained results thus predestine the hood to become a protective device for the child
population, but at the same time, it can be used as a protective device for adults.
